THE OVERVIEWS
MKWAWA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (MUCE)
Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) is located at the Southern Highlands of Tanzania in Iringa Municipality about 3 Kilometres from the municipal center. MUCE was established as a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) on the 1st of September 2005 by upgrading the former Mkwawa High School, in response to the growing demand of secondary school teachers.
Mkwawa High School was first established as an ‘Ordinary’ level school in 1959 and was called St. Michael and St. George’s School respectively. In 1964 it became a High School and was officiated by the First President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. In 1977 it was converted into a teachers’ college which offered Certificate and Diploma programmes in teacher education. In 1992 it was turned back to a High School until March 2005 when it was upgraded to a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam by order under section 55 (1) of the University of Dar es Salaam Act No. 12 of 1970 which was published in Government Notice No. 2003 on 22nd July 2005.

A) UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS
I) MUCE PROGRAMMES COURSES OFFERED
MUCE offers various undergraduate education programmes leading to the award of various degrees in education. A total of five undergraduate degree programmes are offered at various academic units,Below are the programmes courses offered at MUCE :-
- Bachelor of Education in Arts (B.Ed. Arts)
- Bachelor of Education in Science (B.Ed. Science)
- Bachelor of Arts with Education (B.A. Education)
- Bachelor of Science with Education (B.Sc. Education)
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (B.Sc. Chemistry).
II) MUCE UNDERGRADUATE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

III) MUCE UNDERGRADUATE FEE STRUCTURE
At the beginning of the academic year, each student will be required to produce evidence of sponsorship by the Government or any other organizations. Students under Government Loan Board are expected to pay their portion of the fees not covered by the Loan Board (based on mean test grade) at the beginning of the semester before they can be permitted to use the University facilities. All College bursaries are paid through Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GEPG) using the specific control numbers generated through the student’s ARIS account. The generated control number is for tuition fees and direct university costs only. Students are required to keep their original pay-in slips for further verifications in case required.

IV) How to Apply for Undergraduate Programmes at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) ???
Applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee as follows: TZS 10,000/= for Tanzanian applicants and USD 50 for Non-Tanzanian applicants.
Applicants with direct qualifications i.e. those who have completed Advanced level of secondary education (Form VI), will have to apply through the Central Admission System as advertised by the TCU. Equivalent applicants with diplomas in Education, NTA level 6 and non-NTA level 6 recognized by TCU will also apply through CAS. Other equivalent applicants apart from those listed above (such as post-form VI certificates, bachelor degree holders) will continue lodging their applications with the University of Dar es Salaam. Application forms for applicants with other equivalent qualifications can be obtained from the Directorate of Undergraduate Studies, Administration Block in Room 105, or they will be sent directly to the applicant upon request, but only where the applicant meets the required admission qualifications. Application forms can also be obtained from the offices of Regional Education Officers (REOs) or downloaded from the University website at www.udsm.ac.tz. The duly filled forms must reach the Director of Undergraduate Studies not later than the date indicated on the advertisement calling for applications for the particular admission season. Only applicants who meet the required minimum entry qualifications into the University should submit application forms. Forms from applicants who do not meet the minimum entry qualifications will not be processed and the admission fee if paid will be forfeited.

B) MUCE POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION
MUCE offers seven postgraduate programmes leading to the award of master degrees and postgraduate diploma.
I) MUCE POSTGRADUATE COURSES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Admission into the postgraduate programmes will be in accordance with the University of Dar es Salaam regulations regarding postgraduate studies. Candidates applying for the MSc. (Ed) programme shall hold BSc. (Ed) or BEd (Science) degrees from a recognized institution. Graduates from non-education science degree programmes, or equivalent qualifications, will be required to undertake postgraduate diploma in Education as a prerequisite programme prior to admission into the MSc. (Ed) programme.

II) MUCE POSTGRADUATE FEE STRUCTURE

III) How to Apply for Postgraduate Programmes at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) ???
All payments are paid through bank accounts or mobile money using control numbers. The control number will be sent to you after logging in the online application system. The application fee is paid before submitting the application and other payments are paid after receiving the admission letter.
